Deadly crash leads to charges for Colorado man

by | Oct 23, 2014 | Car Accidents

A car accident in Teller County, Colorado, took a life in October, and the driver who allegedly caused the accident is now facing charges as a result. Photos from the scene show a black pickup truck with the front end completely destroyed, and another car can be seen sitting in the grass on the side of the road, though the damage is not as clear.

The accident, according to police, took place at the intersection where Teller County Road 51 and Teller County Road 5 come together. The driver who was killed was reportedly coming down TCR 5, going northbound. He was attempting to turn left through the intersection so that he could continue down TCR 51.

However, the police say that the driver in the other vehicle did not heed the stop sign. Instead, he continued through it and rammed into the car as it turned in front of him.

The man who is facing the charges is 20 years old. He did not suffer from any injuries in the incident. The other man, 35, was transported to a nearby hospital. He was pronounced dead at the medical facility.

The specific charges in the crash are, at this time, for careless driving that resulted in a death.

Accidents can happen in just a split second, but they can change many lives forever. The family members of people who are killed in these wrecks have to deal with the emotional trauma and all of the medical bills. These family members must know what rights they have to compensation if another driver was at fault, as the police believe was the case in this wreck.
