A 2-car crash injures a pregnant Fort Collins woman

A two-car crash close to where Prospect Road and Sheilds Street intersect resulted in one motorist being admitted to the hospital and several others being treated for minor injuries the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Fort Collins police first began receving calls from witnesses to the crash at around 7:15 p.m. Once on the scene, statements were taken from both motorists, one of which is a senior at Colorado State University. That driver, who’d been driving a Honda Pilot at the time of the crash, said that she’d been waiting to make a left turn on yellow when another motorist, driving a Pontiac Grand Prix, sped up and ran the light, colliding into her.

Witnesses reported having seen at least one of the passengers of one of the vehicles visibly pregnant. She was reportedly heard complaining of both pain in her side and along her arm. It appears that the individual had been riding in the Pontiac at the time. She was evacuated from the crash scene by ambulance to an area hospital for additional tests. All other vehicle occupants were treated and released by emergency crews on the spot.

Residents from around the crash scene report that accidents are frequent at this intersection. They estimate that there’s a new one at it at least once a week.

If you’ve been hurt in a motor vehicle crash due to another motorist’s negligence, then a Fort Collins car accident attorney may advise you of your right to sue for expenses such as lost wages and medical bills in your case.
