7-car collision marks Parker Road on cold, snowy winter day

by | Feb 12, 2016 | Car Accidents

The winter months can mean dangerous weather conditions throughout the United States, and that means drivers have to be particularly careful not to drive in a dangerous manner. When you get ready to go out, you may warm up your vehicle, make sure it has enough fuel to go to and from home and even carry extra emergency kits with scrapers and ice melters, so you don’t get stuck due to unforeseen weather conditions. Drivers may need to switch to snow tires or use chains on them, while they should also be aware that slowing down and taking more time to travel is key to safety.

Poor weather conditions combined with potentially negligent driving resulted in a seven-car accident on Parker Road in Colorado. The road was shut down for many hours while emergency teams worked to remove the injured parties and damaged vehicles.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the accidents took place during a time of heavy traffic. The roads near Denver were slick due to snowy conditions during the day. Following the accident, there were four people who were taken to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries; multiple people had rolled their vehicles over in the incidents.

Sometimes, weather conditions can make it hard to control a vehicle, but anyone living or traveling through the conditions should be aware of safety steps to avoid these kinds of collisions and rollover accidents. If you’re hurt because someone is traveling too fast, hasn’t prepared for ice on his or her vehicle or was driving under the influence, you may be able to seek compensation, even though weather was a factor in the crash.
