Julie M. Yates, Attorney
Overview
Julie is an Attorney with Wick & Trautwein, LLC. She joined the firm in 2021. Julie is primarily a litigation and appellate attorney, focusing on complex litigation with a concentration on a corporation, construction defect, intellectual property/trade secrets, oil and gas/mineral interests, and property disputes. Julie is the former owner of a law firm, Colorado Children’s Law Office, LLC, a multi-disciplinary child welfare practice, and is a former partner of Anthony, Nicholas, Tangeman & Yates, LLC. She also served as in-house counsel for In-Situ, Inc.
Julie received her Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming, College of Law, in 1997. During her time at the University of Wyoming, Julie was a Wyoming Appellate Clinic intern, which was the beginning of her interest in appellate practice. Julie was admitted into the Order of Barristers in 1997.
Julie is passionate about appellate work, having participated in and argued numerous cases before state supreme courts and federal district courts. Julie is also a frequent guest lecturer at Colorado State University, on topics ranging from constitutional rights, child welfare law, appellate decisions, and the Rule of Law in medieval Europe.
In her free time, Julie enjoys bird hunting, fly fishing, fly-tying, white-water rafting, and traveling.
