Colorado crash kills 3, injures 3 more

by | Aug 1, 2014 | Car Accidents

A crash to the north of Durango, Colorado, left three people with injuries, and it took the lives of three more. It was a head on collision between a car and an SUV. The reports of the accident came from an officer with the Colorado State Patrol.

According to those reports, the accident happened out on U.S. 550. It was north of the city of Durango by roughly 15 miles. It happened on a Wednesday, July 30, and it took place at around 10:30 in the morning.

The car that was involved was apparently traveling north, while the SUV was going south. The authorities believe that the driver of the car caused the accident by drifting to the left, over the road’s center line. Once it had entered the other lane, it slammed head-on into the SUV.

One of the people in the SUV passed away as a result of injuries. Two of the people riding in the car were also killed, though reports do not indicate if that included the driver or only passengers. Three additional people were hurt in the wreck, but the police have not given out their names, ages and medical conditions at this time.

The investigation is ongoing, so they have also not yet determined if drugs, alcohol or speed caused the wreck, or if it was something else entirely.

When car accidents lead to severe injuries and death, the families of those who have been hurt or killed may want to look into their legal rights to compensation. Everyone has the right to drive safely on the road and not to lose family members to accidents, and compensation may be possible when these rights are violated.
