Why Colorado Springs is good for new businesses

by | Dec 15, 2013 | Business Formation & Planning

If you thought Colorado was a good place to launch a small business, or even expand a burgeoning enterprise, you are right. According to a CNN-Money.com report, Colorado Springs made the list of the “8 Most Business Friendly Cities.”

The population of highly skilled workers was one draw. The area benefits from graduates from the University of Colorado (from nearby Boulder), as well as Colorado College and the U.S. Air Force Academy. Further, Colorado Springs has become a tech hub that draws businesses such as Hewlett Packard and FedEx.

The federal government also has a strong presence, which translates into a solid consumer base. Additionally, reviewers found that the region’s natural beauty is a benefit that other metro areas cannot boast.

As we highlighted in prior posts, Colorado is home to an annual forum for entrepreneurs and small businesses that is similar to the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas that draws thousands of business hopefuls for knowledge and networking opportunities.

With the beneficial business opportunities, small business owners would also benefit from having a skilled business attorney available to help them understand the legal implications of the choices they make. Whether it is hiring employees, purchasing real estate or even entering into long-term business relationships, having a seasoned attorney available can help a growing business avoid the common issues that small companies are exposed to.

In the meantime, the combination of zoning laws and business-friendly regulations, combined with the talented workforce and natural resources make Colorado Springs an ideal place for new businesses to grow.
