Julie M. Yates

Biography
Julie is an attorney with Wick & Trautwein, LLC, having joined the firm in 2021. She is primarily a litigation and appellate attorney, focusing on complex litigation with a concentration on corporate law, construction defects, intellectual property/trade secrets, oil and gas/mineral interests, and property disputes. Julie is the former owner of Colorado Children’s Law Office, LLC, a multi-disciplinary child welfare practice, and a former partner of Anthony, Nicholas, Tangeman & Yates, LLC. She also served as in-house counsel for In-Situ, Inc.
Julie received her Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming, College of Law, in 1997. During her time at the University of Wyoming, Julie was a Wyoming Appellate Clinic intern, which sparked her interest in appellate practice. She was admitted into the Order of Barristers in 1997.
Passionate about appellate work, Julie has participated in and argued numerous cases before state supreme courts and federal district courts. She is also a frequent guest lecturer at Colorado State University, covering topics ranging from constitutional rights and child welfare law to appellate decisions and the Rule of Law in medieval Europe.
In her free time, Julie enjoys bird hunting, fly fishing, fly-tying, white-water rafting, and traveling.
