1 man seriously hurt in pedestrian accident in Colorado

by | Apr 3, 2015 | Car Accidents

As a pedestrian, you have certain rights when you’re near roadways, like being able to cross when the crosswalk lights say it’s appropriate or having the right of way when you’re in a crosswalk. Drivers should be looking for you and be sure they allow you to cross at crosswalks and intersections. Drivers shouldn’t speed, so they can see people who are crossing the road ahead of them. Most of all, both you and drivers on the road should be respectful of one another to prevent accidents.

Unfortunately, an accident in Colorado caused serious injuries to a pedestrian who was at the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The male pedestrian was crossing the road at around 7 a.m., when the accident took place.

Police have been able to report that the accident didn’t turn out to be a hit-and-run. The driver stayed at the scene with the pedestrian to speak with police on arrival. In photos, the accident was shown to take place near a crosswalk, but police haven’t released information on why the accident took place. The roads were closed in the area for several hours as the police investigated.

The man who was struck suffered from injuries reported to be severe and to involve potential head trauma. No updates about his health had been released at the time of the March 13 report, but his injuries weren’t expected to be life-threatening, according to the news report from the scene. He was being treated at a local hospital shortly after the accident.
