Colorado woman killed in car crash

by | Feb 23, 2015 | Car Accidents

Everyone wants to stay safe on the roads. There are a lot of factors involved including weather, visibility, road conditions, safety precautions within vehicles like seat belts and airbags, and the state of each driver. Of course, a person can carefully address all of those factors for his or her part and still be at risk if other drivers on the same road do not. Unfortunately, sometimes, a car accident will even result in loss of life, as it did recently for a Colorado woman.

The woman is from Colorado Springs. The accident she was in happened on a recent Thursday in the Black Forest area near the intersection of Wakely Road and Burgess Road. A 2009 Nissan was in Burgess Road’s westbound lane, about to turn left onto Wakely. Because it was stopped, a westbound 2015 Hyundai swerved to try to avoid it and went into the eastbound lane.

The Hyundai hit the rear of the Nissan despite the attempt to avoid it. It then hit a Mercedes-Benz head-on. The Mercedes-Benz had been going eastbound on Burgess. The collisions resulted in multiple injuries and the one fatality.

The woman who died, 55, had been a passenger in the Hyundai. She had a seat belt on, as did the driver, but suffered injuries too intense to survive and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The driver also went to the hospital, but only had minor injuries.

This crash remains under investigation. It shows that anyone can be in a car accident because, despite safety precautions, other drivers can be unpredictable. Still, safety precautions are always worth taking, along with making sure that insurance is up to date in case you are in an accident.
