Car and motorcyle collide, catch on fire in Colorado Springs

by | Nov 6, 2014 | Car Accidents

A car and a motorcycle were involved in an accident in Colorado Springs on the first of November. The crash happened late at night, and reports indicate that one person was hurt and another was killed. At this time, it is thought that the person who died was driving the motorcycle.

The call to the police came from a witness who was at the accident scene, and they got that call right around 11 in the evening. The police responded and found the accident at the intersection where Union Boulevard and Pikes Peak Avenue come together.

Photos from the scene show the car with the hood up and the right side smashed in, resting near a light post. The wreckage of the motorcycle is still back in the street, under the glaring red stoplights. After the crash, the motorcycle caught on fire, and there is a black charred mark all around the vehicle.

The driver of the car was also injured in the crash, with the combination of striking the motorcycle and the light pole. That driver was transported to a hospital for medical care.

Though the police were able to open the intersection up to traffic relatively quickly, the Major Accident Unit stayed on the scene to determine exactly what had led to the crash.

Depending on who is found to be at fault in cases like this one, the family members of someone who dies may have the legal option to pursue a wrongful death case. It is important for them to follow the police investigation to see how fault is established so that they know what their options are.
