3 injures and 1 death in Colorado van accident

by | Jun 5, 2014 | Car Accidents

Four teenage boys were riding together in a van in Colorado when it left the roadway and crashed. The accident happened early in the morning, and no other cars appear to have been involved. However, one of the teens in the accident was killed. The other three were injured, and had to be transported to the hospital for treatment.

Police are still investigating the crash, which took place on Denver Avenue, but a spokesperson did say that the initial evidence seems to suggest that speed was a factor in the crash. The van apparently was traveling far too quickly for a turn in the road, and it went out of control when trying to go around that corner. The turn would have taken the van onto Ninth Street, but it instead slammed into a car that was parked and then drove into a yard.

One of the injured teens was taken to Children’s Hospital Colorado by ambulance, and another one was taken by air transport to the same hospital. The third injured teen was instead transported to Northern Colorado Medical Center, and this was also done by ambulance.

Police have not yet released the name of the young man who was killed or the exact injuries that were suffered by those in the crash.

As a lawyer will attest, one of the most important bits of evidence to come out of car accidents like this will be who was driving the vehicle and who was at fault in the crash. When that is known, the parties who were injured — or the family of the boy who passed away — could look into their rights to a civil lawsuit.
